The CrossFit Games 2019 Recap
After another thrilling CrossFit Games in Maddison, the returning Champs were able to hold on to their titles for another year!
Mat Fraser has now matched the legendary Rich Froning for 4 consecutive CrossFit Games titles with Tia Toomey becoming the first 3x women's champ. Not only is Tia the first threepeat female champ she now also holds the record for the greatest margin of victory over second place, a truly dominating performance that won't be forgotten any time soon.
The CrossFit community was shocked to see Mat Fraser lose the leader Jersey to Noah Olsen, many of us had pegged Mat to have another runaway win much like what we saw in 2018 where he had the leaders jersey after event 1 and didn’t take it off for the rest of the weekend. But after the unfortunate Ruck Run penalty (Mat lost a sandbag out of his GoRuck backpack causing him to get a time penalty and loose valuable places) and a frustrating sprint event the next day, it left Noah Olsen only a few points behind on the leaderboard. Noah capitalized on this during the event "Mary" taking his first career event win at the CrossFit games along with the leader's jersey.
Unfortunately for Noah, he was not able to hold off the 3x champ for the remainder of the CrossFit Games but he was able to show the world he means business and he has cemented his spot as a part of the future of CrossFit.
